OFF GRID.

Nestled harmoniously amongst bushland in the panoramic valley of Cedar Creek, this modern mid-century inspired family home is sustainable, functional and features resourceful design outcomes. Designed with rural family living in mind, and out of the desire to demonstrate how simple sustainable measures can be implemented seamlessly into modern homes.

The house is completely ‘Off Grid’ with an independent solar power and battery system, wastewater system, and tank water. The materials used are steel structural insulated panels from Bondor (Insulwall, Solar Span and Luxe Wall range), recycled brick, and concrete with recycled aggregates. This reflects the desire for the house to withstand bushfires, provide thermal mass for capturing solar heat in Winter, insulation for deflecting seasonal heat and natural ventilation for passive cooling of the home in Summer.

Featuring on Open Homes Australia, season 4 episode 9; this TONIC home sets a guide for a new form of sustainable design which can be transported to a new methodology for everyday home construction.

URBAN MID CENTURY MODERN.

The vision for this family home was to build a property that allows zones for play, creating, family time and privacy.

At the core of the home is the way humble spaces have been made to feel considerably large. Built on a block that is 380sqm, with 3m ceilings, and larger openings to the outside spaces, create spaces that feel collectively larger. Another feature is the stand alone pool in the backyard, and a concrete water tank that is compact and ready to set up instantly.

The house was the first of its kind, built from insulated panels from Bondor and as such has been featured heavily in the press.
